چکیده

where logP is the studied experimental response and V1 and V2 are two independent variables for which a quantitative relationship with the response has been searched for. The numbers in the equation are called regression coefficients, being the first one the intercept of the regression model. n is the number of samples used for building the regression equation, r is the multiple correlation coefficient, sy is the residual standard deviation (or error standard deviation), F the calculated value of the F-ratio test. In several cases, r = 0.9765 is replaced by R = 0.9765 or by R = 0.9536 or by R = 95.36 %, being the last two indices (coefficient of determination) the squared r (R) value and the last one the corresponding percentage of the variance explained by the regression model. For evaluating the quality of the summary, mathematical definitions of the quantities involved in the previous example are given.

Nonpharmacological Management of Gastroesophageal Reflux in Preterm Infants

Gastroesophageal reflux (GOR) is very common among preterm infants, due to several physiological mechanisms. Although GOR should not be usually considered a pathological condition, its therapeutic management still represents a controversial issue among neonatologists; pharmacological overtreatment, often unuseful and potentially harmful, is increasingly widespread. Hence, a stepwise approach, f...

پیش‌بینی قیمت‌های نقدی گازطبیعی به کمک مدل‌های غیرخطی ناپارامتریک

Developing models for accurate natural gas spot price forecasting is critical because these forecasts are useful in determining a range of regulatory decisions covering both supply and demand of natural gas or for market participants. A price forecasting modeler needs to use trial and error to build mathematical models (such as ANN) for different input combinations. This is very time consuming ...

Application of Mathematical Models to Estimate Metabolizable Energy Contents of Energetic Concentrate Feedstuffs for Poultry

A study using 51 wheat, 56 barley and 34 oat grain samples was conducted to investigate the feasibility of predicting the apparent metabolizable energy (AME) value of these cereals for poultry. Stepwise regression analyses were performed to evaluate the relationship of AME with starch, ether extract (EE), crude fiber (CF), soluble sugar (SS), ash and crude protein (CP) (for wheat and barley gra...

Piecewise Linear Regression for Massive Data through Dataspheres

We propose enhancing the tting of linear regression models to massive multidimensional data by partitioning the data using a DataSphere (proposed in our previous work) and tting piecewise linear regression models to each class in the representation. Nonlinear models typically involve several iterations through the data and require the knowledge of every data point. Linear regression models, on ...

Inferential models for linear regression

Linear regression is arguably one of the most widely used statistical methods. However, important problems, especially variable selection, remain a challenge for classical modes of inference. This paper develops a recently proposed framework of inferential models (IMs) in the linear regression context. In general, the IM framework is able to produce meaningful probabilistic summaries of the sta...
